Note: This post is dedicated to my fellow Pathworkers around the world, and especially to those new to this sacred journey.

Recently the Mid-Atlantic Pathwork Community gathered at Sevenoaks Retreat Center for the bi-annual Pathwork Community Weekend. We welcomed old friends and curious new seekers with the theme of  “Making Soul Connections: The Gift of Real Friendship.”

I found myself reflecting on what it was that initially drew me to the Pathwork, and what it is that keeps me connected with this community year after year.

Pathwork has given me so many gifts, it is impossible to do justice to them all in one blog post. If I had to distill it down to three main ways my life has changed since encountering the Pathwork teachings, it would be these:

  1. I reconnected with and healed the pain of my inner child. Pathwork has taught me to embrace my scared, hurt, angry, wounded inner child with unequivocal compassion and acceptance. This community has consistently offered me a supportive, nonjudgmental space to feel all of my feelings, uncover unconscious misconceptions, and discover and give to myself what my child needed most — without getting stuck in self-pity, blame, or victimhood.
  2.  I stepped more fully into adulthood. I have learned what it means to be a responsible  adult, willing to accept the consequences of my thoughts and actions. I have been challenged and supported in choosing to consciously create a life of meaning, fulfillment, and intimacy. I have learned to risk failure, humiliation, and disappointment to follow my heart’s longing and offer my gifts to the world.
  3. The potential for healing childhood hurts and creating a fabulous life was what drew me to the community, but it is not the main goal of the Pathwork. I have learned how these gifts were merely preparation for the greatest gift of all…a deeper experience of and connection with the Divine. I have opened up to connecting with the spark of the Divine that lives in me, and to allowing it to manifest in this world through me. I have experienced the interconnectedness of all of life, and come to see God in everything and everyone. I may not always live there, but today I strive to live faithful to that experience even when I find myself steeped in duality.

When I meet folks who are courageous enough to accept the challenging task of facing and accepting all aspects of themselves, I am deeply moved. Their dedication to self-transformation is a gift to the world in ways that they may not even be aware of. In may ways, I have received from the Pathwork what I didn’t even know I was looking for. What I didn’t even know was possible.

And now I am honored to be a link in the chain of re-gifting the treasures of the Pathwork that began with Eva Pierrakos and was handed down from one soul to the next until it reached me, and I am graced with the opportunity to offer these profound teachings to others, and to witness the transformation of the next soul, and the next, and the next.

When I connect with Pathworkers around the world, I am delighted to experience how that chain has branched out and spread from a little apartment in New York City to span the entire planet.

I feel my oneness with a Pathworker in Australia, the support of a Pathworker in Japan, the warm-hearted welcome of the Italians, the exuberant energy and creativity of the Mexicans, the passionate dedication of the Belgians. The Brazilians, the Canadians, the Israelis, and all the other countries the Pathwork has touched…we are all one people, one community. United in our task, and individual in our expression.

I am beyond blessed for the soul connection I feel with all of you, and I welcome those of you who are new to this sacred journey.

What are the gifts you have received from the Pathwork?

I’d love it if you would take a moment to share in the comments below how Pathwork has deeply touched your heart, and please include what country/state you are from. In this way we can all remember the many gifts we have received from the Pathwork, the many gifts we have to offer, and the soul connection that links us together in one chain.
